The Find feature

The Find feature is one of my favorite and most used features in QuickBooks. This feature allows you to search your QuickBooks data for specific transactions (including, but not limited to: checks, deposits and invoices) with just a few simple steps and run a report if you desire. QuickBooks has two Find methods: Simple and Advanced.

To use the Simple Find feature:

1. From the Home Screen click Edit on the tool-bar and select Find from the drop-down menu (or simply press Ctrl + F on your keyboard).

2. The Find screen will appear - make sure the Simple tab is selected. Here you enter the transaction type and specific details you want QuickBooks to filter the search by. Click the Find button or press enter on your keyboard.

3. At the bottom of the Find Screen a list of all transactions that fit the specified search criteria you entered will appear.

4. Now you may either open a transaction, run a report or export the data to Excel.

-To open a transaction: Select the invoice and click the Go To button on the right-hand side of the screen or double-click on the transaction.

-To run a report: Click the Report button on the right-hand side of the screen. The Find Report screen will appear. You may now customize or further refine the data in your report.

-To export the data to Excel: Click the Export button on the right-hand side of the screen. The Export screen will appear - select where you want the data to and click OK.

5. If you did not find the transaction(s) you were looking for click the Reset button on the right-hand side of the Find Screen to perform a new Simple Find or follow the steps below to perform an Advanced Find.

To use the Advanced Find feature:

1. From the Home Screen click Edit on the tool-bar and select Find from the drop-down menu (or simply press Ctrl + F on your keyboard).

2. The Find screen will appear - make sure the Advanced tab is selected.

3. Choose the filter(s) you wish to use and enter the specific data for each filter. Click the Find button on the right-hand side of the screen or press Enter on your keyboard.

Using QuickBooks 2005 or older? Upgrade now!

If you are using an older version of QuickBooks not only is it a good idea to Upgrade, but you may soon be forced to if you wish to continue receiving full access to services and live technical support.

On May 31, 2008 QuickBooks is discontinuing support and many services for the following older versions of QuickBooks: QuickBooks 2005 or older, QuickBooks Point of Sale 4.0 or QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 5.0.

Below is a list which I found on QuickBooks Support Site of products and services being discontinued on May 31, 2008.
